Are you an undergrad passionate about social justice? A graduate student writing a dissertation on a labor-related topic? A busy activist building a student group or union campaign?

You are in luck! Each year, the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies awards over $50,000 in scholarships at the University of Washington. The Bridges Center is currently seeking applicants from all three UW campuses and from students at all stages of education and experience.

Labor Studies awards are available to students at multiple stages of education and experience, from incoming freshman to senior graduate students. Individual award amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000. Students at any of the three University of Washington campuses (Seattle, Bothell, or Tacoma) are eligible to apply.

To apply for funding, visit the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies website for instructions. Only one application is required to be considered for multiple Labor Studies awards.

Awards will be granted during the 2023-2024 school year. To be eligible, students must plan to enroll at the University of Washington for Fall quarter 2023. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 22, 2023.

2023-2024 Labor Studies Awards Include:

•     Martin and Anne Jugum Scholarship - $5,500 for undergraduate students
•     Gundlach Scholarship - $5,500 for undergraduate or graduate students
•     Frank Jenkins, Jr. Fellowship - $6,000 for undergraduate or graduate students
•     Silme Domingo & Gene Viernes Scholarship - $6,000 for incoming undergraduate students or graduate students
•     Kennedy Drayton Scholarship - Up to $5,000 for incoming undergraduate students
•     Samuel Bassett Scholarship in Labor Relations - $4,500 for undergrad or graduate students pursuing a career in labor relations
•     Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) Scholarship - $1,000 for undergrad or graduate students pursuing a career in labor relations
•     Martha H. Duggan Fellowship in Caring Labor - $10,000 for graduate students studying and/or providing caring labor
