Ching-In Chen, Associate Professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts at the University of Washington Bothell, is the author of The Heart's Traffic (Arktoi/Red Hen Press, 2009) and recombinant (Kelsey Street Press, 2017). Born of Chinese immigrants, they are a Kundiman, Lambda, Callaloo and Watering Hole Fellow and a member of the Macondo and Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundations writing communities.
Research/Teaching Areas: Chen is a cross-genre writer with a background in community organizing, specifically in Asian American communities in coalition with other communities of color and LGBTQIA* communities. Their work participates in a lineage of documentary and speculative poetics, which uses documents and other historical evidence as material from which to imagine under-examined lives and investigate how various communities interact and inhabit space.
