The Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies is facing budget cuts in the recent House budget proposal in the Washington state legislature. This funding is vital to our Center as we offer courses, internships, and research focused on labor issues. A cut of any size jeopardizes the Center's ability to reach young workers who are entering the workforce for the first time and know little about their legal rights as workers.
Please sign and share the Google form below to support restoring our Center’s funding. We’d appreciate responses by this week (3/28/25) since the operating budgets are supposed to be voted on this Saturday. Thank you so much for your help.
Restoring the Bridges Center Funding
A strong economy depends on shared prosperity, with greater access to fair wages, safe and healthy working conditions, and secure retirement for all workers. While new generations of workers need to be educated about their rights and protections to advocate for themselves, dramatic changes in the economy demand new research to better understand the shifting needs of the state’s workforce. Continuing to invest in labor education and research in the public university system, which the Harry Bridges Center provides, will be critical to creating a sustainable and equitable future for all Washington residents. During this year’s legislative session, we need to make funding the Bridges Center in full a top priority.
